The CBA was formed, informally but irrevocably, on the evening of 31 March 2005 just outside of Montreal with the express - and currently sole - purpose of redesigning and relaunching the Taverner Cup "Big Day" competition for Spring of 2006.

We will organise the premiere birding contest in Canada which may or may not be centered on the existing Taverner Cup territory (an extensive circle centred on Arnprior, Ontario - the approximate boundaries being west: Port Hope, east: the island of Montreal, north: bottom end of Laverendrye Park - see map) that will appeal to teams of competitive birders at all levels of experience and which will also function to raise funds for birding related activities in Canada - possibly in conjunction with the Baillie.

The contest will be known as the Great Canadian Birding Championship

Le CBA a été formé, officieusement mais irrévocablement, la soirée de 31 mars 2005 à Montréal avec le but exprès de remodeler et de relancer la défi de Taverner pour le printemps 2006.

Nous organiserons le défi le première en importance au Canada à porter sur le territoire existant du Taverner Cup (un cercle étendu a porté sur Arnprior, Ontario - voir la carte) qui fera appel aux équipes de birders concurrentiels à tous les niveaux d'expérience et qui fonctionnera également pour soulever des fonds pour des activités relatives des oiseaux au Canada - probablement en même temps que le Baillie.

Le défi sera connu comme Grand Championnat Canadien de Birding.
