FUNNIES
Visual jokes that appeal to birders are rare - but have a look at this small collection of videos

Montreal - probably the best birding near the best restaurants in Canada.

We have quite possibly the richest possibilities for the eager lister to be found in one location on this eastern side of the continent. On this site we hope to introduce anyone birding in the Montreal area (a circle of indeterminate diameter with Montreal at the centre) to some places that we think are especially worthy of visiting and provide the necessary maps and directions to help you to get to them plus information on what birds you might see once you arrive. As well as those core topics, we include sundry facts of a useful and informative nature to anyone interested in birds in particular and wildlife in general.

If you have any questions, then send us an e-mail and we will do our best to help you. If you think there is something we might add, do let us know.

Birding Montreal will be a perpetual work in progress. The selection of information and the presentation thereof is entirely personal and any errors are, ipso facto, entirely home grown.

Our philosophy .......

"Much effort is, rightly, put into preserving endangered species although what may well prove to be really difficult in the long term is simply keeping common birds common"
(Paraphrased from a Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology document)

"The problem with the decline of the House Sparrow population in northern Europe in recent years was that, because these are such common, background, birds we never paid them any attention, knowing that they would always be there. As a consequence our baseline population data was inadequate and the decline had been going on for years before anyone noticed it"
(Paraphrased from an RSPB document)

..... and so :

Count the Chickadees and watch the Sparrows - there's no such thing as a "trash bird".
